01 / The challenge
What they came to us with
merchOne manufactures and fulfils custom products at scale: canvas and acrylic prints, apparel, home decor, pet products and seasonal ranges, with production in the USA and EU. The catalogue runs into hundreds of thousands of variations, each with sizes, materials and customisation options.
They also arrived having had a bad experience with a previous technical partner. That set the real starting condition. Before anything could be built, merchOne needed to know the work would be done their way, to their requirements, rather than by a vendor with its own opinions about what they should have asked for.

Where Devbion sat
Devbion was the direct design and development partner for the storefront, and the brief came with a condition attached: work inside merchOne's own rules and specifications exactly as given.
That meant more checking and fewer unilateral decisions early on than a typical build. It was the cost of the approach, and it was the right cost, because trust was the thing actually being rebuilt.

What changed
The engagement did not end at delivery. merchOne is on an ongoing technical maintenance retainer, and now resells Devbion's white label web design and development to its own clients, which is a harder thing to earn than a launch.
