Core, theme and plugin updates applied on staging and tested before they touch production, offsite backups that are periodically restored to prove they actually work, malware scanning, security patching and PHP version management. Everything above that, content changes, development hours, is what separates the three published tiers from each other.
Because a plugin update can break a site without warning, and finding that out on the live site is the expensive way to learn it. Staging catches the incompatible update, the theme conflict or the fatal error before your visitors, or your client, ever see it.
We flag them. An abandoned plugin with a known vulnerability is a real risk regardless of how well the rest of the site is maintained, and we would rather tell you it needs replacing than quietly leave it running. Replacing one is development work, quoted against your plan's included hours or as additional time.
On a schedule tied to your plan's retention: 30, 90 or 365 days depending on the tier. Testing means restoring to a throwaway environment and confirming the site comes back correctly, not just confirming a backup file exists. A backup nobody has restored is not a backup, only an assumption.
Yes, on all three tiers. An outdated PHP version is one of the most common reasons a maintained site still ends up compromised, so it is treated as baseline hygiene rather than an upsell.
